Seahero Bioscience was founded to bridge the gap between the traditional use of marine bioactives and the way modern health compounds are researched, developed and commercialised.
After beginning his career in Phase III oncology pharmaceutical development, our co-founder spent eight years in China, where he worked in clinical trials. There, he saw marine bioactives and functional nutrition integrated into everyday approaches to recovery and wellbeing, yet largely overlooked within Western pharmaceutical and biomedical R&D pipelines.
In 2014, he co-founded an award-winning New Zealand sea cucumber functional-food processing business. That foundation led to the establishment of a formal marine biotechnology research and development programme in 2019.
In 2022, Seahero Bioscience was formally established and a dedicated marine extraction and manufacturing facility was commissioned in Christchurch, New Zealand. Today, the company is focused on proprietary technologies, process know-how and the development of New Zealand marine-derived products that bring the unique benefits of New Zealand's marine environment to people around the world.
